Understanding Tip Openings
The tip opening is the gap between the reed and the tip of the mouthpiece. A smaller opening requires less air pressure and produces a focused, precise tone — ideal for classical playing. A larger opening gives you more volume headroom and expressive flexibility, favored in jazz and band settings. Not sure which end you prefer? That is exactly why the Variety Pack exists.

Ship the rest back at your own expense. Return address provided in the box.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the $40 cover?
The $40 test fee covers the 7-day loan period. It is not refunded, but it is fully credited toward the retail price of any mouthpiece you decide to keep.
When does the 7-day window start?
The clock starts on the day the mouthpieces arrive at your address — not when they ship from us.
Can I keep more than one?
Absolutely. Keep as many as you like — you will be invoiced for each one at its standard retail price, with the $40 credited toward your total.
What if none of them work for me?
Return all five within 7 days. If you already know roughly where you fall, consider our focused boxes: Closed Tip, Medium Tip, or Open Tip.
What condition must I return them in?
Mouthpieces must be returned in pristine, undamaged condition. Scratches from a ligature, teeth marks, or any other damage means we cannot accept that piece back — and you will be invoiced for it.
Care note: Most Gleichweit mouthpieces are made from synthetic material; select models are crafted from hard rubber. Either way, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat, which can cause discolouration over time. Clean with a soft, damp cloth.
